Neither. They both suck.

If it had stopped after the original series and the first two (or maybe four) movies, Star Trek would be ok. Had Lucas died after Return of the Jedi, Star Wars would be ok.

BUT THEY JUST WON'T GO AWAY!!!

They were both entertaining up until a certain tipping point. Probably up to when the 1,000th trashy "canon" novel in each respective universe was published. Wanna know why Barnes and Noble is going bankrupt? Look at the amount of shelf space they waste keeping up with both Wars and Trek and with Kevin J Anderson and his attempts to rape every sci-fi franchise in existence. (Seriously, they should've stopped after the books Alan Dean Foster wrote for both franchises.)

Much like OSC should've stopped after Ender's Game. Or Gibson after Neuromancer. Or Herbert after Children or Messiah (God Emperor and the knowledge of what parts of Duncan Idaho he was "inspecting" have forever destroyed my appreciation for Dune).

Just let it die already.

(Amusingly, my first thought was to correct your post to read: "What is this, Space: 1999?")
