I was eating at a Wendy's, and watching the road. An SUV drove by, slowing down to make the upcoming right turn to head towards the interstate. The middle window on the passenger side was open, and as I watched, I saw something fall out of the car. A mostly black thing. I thought, for a second, that it might be a child.
It turned out to be a dog. It hit the pavement on its side, and I worried that it might be hurt, but it got up, trotted out of the flow of traffic, and just stood in the parking lot. Its owner noticed, and pulled off to come get the dog - she actually seemed quite mad at it, tugging the collar roughly, et cetera. I'm wondering if it was a daring, but abortive escape attempt.
Saturday, Evening.
D&D campaign went well. Amusing tangents abounded as always. Speculation on Beholder architecture led us to envision a race of tiny Beholders living in a habitrail-like warren of tubes. The Behamsters. I was particularly amused by the mental vision of a tiny beholder futilely trying to use an exercise wheel. Thanks to a misspoken word (transient, rather than transcendent) we also envisioned another subrace, the behobo. That'd be a beholder who has become behomeless. Complete with beard stubble, a bindle held by one of his eyestalks, a bloodshot central eye, and a telekinetically levitated bottle of rye in a paper bag.
Sunday, Evening.
I bought toys. Action figures, to be precise. Mattel has released a line of 3.75 inch DC Comics characters, and the line is already featuring some obscure characters that I never thought I'd see in a mass-market toy line. I mean, Adam Strange? That's awesome. So I hit two Targets, two Wal-Marts, and a Toys 'R Us to gather most of Wave One, then ordered the rest through Amazon. Also picked up an XBox Live Gold membership card from Best Buy.
