Blah, blah, interrupted sleep cycle. You know the drill. Brain functioning at half capacity.

Of course, that still leaves me better off than most folks, it seems, so that's good.

I've been updating my Tumblr semi-regularly - my New Comics Day posts, my MST3K favorites posts, my 'Bad Movie Night' posts. I may just become a blogger, yet.

Truck's fixed, and I got to see Rifftrax Live : Birdemic last night. I'd seen clips at the Smithee Awards, but.. woo, I was not prepared for the full impact of the awfulness of Birdemic. The Rifftrax show was great, though.

Later this month, I'll have the chance to see all of Birdemic, which had a good run at the Smithee Awards this year; I won't be seeing it in its completely natural state, though - it will be with the buffer of comedy provided by the RiffTrax team. Looking forward to it!

RiffTrax

Enjoyed the RiffTrax Live showing of Manos last night; I was worried they wouldn't be able to justify re-doing a movie that MST3K had already covered, but you know what? I think they actually out-did the original MST version. Add to that a couple of solid shorts and it was well worth the time.

And in October, they're tackling Birdemic ... hoo, boy. I saw that one sweep the Smithees this year, so I know how bad it is..

New MST3K!

Should be arriving from Amazon today, volume 24 - including Fugitive Alien 1 and 2! I am pleased. It also has The Sword and the Dragon, and Samson vs. The Vampire Women - this is a solid set. Basically every one of those is a favorite episode of mine.

Starting watching Community Season Three through the gracious provenance of a friend's Hulu account - knocked out six episodes of that last night. Enjoying that quite a bit.

Run Down

Feeling tired. Not sure if it's weather or burgeoning illness. We shall see.

Did the last-ever post-apocalyptic giant robot game Saturday, and an MST3K mini-marathon Sunday. And spent time transferring data off of old 3.5" floppy disks (before it becomes impossible, like it did with my orphaned 5.25" disks..)

Kind of a full weekend.

Is there any better food? I think not.

Birthday dinner yesterday was good, and I have been inspired to actually put together the semi-monthly MST3K viewings I'd been thinking about. So I will get on that.

This week is full-ish, so I think I will be giving Game a Week a pause until next week. (And using this extra time to play more Recettear! I am devious.)

Tonight, I will visit the university's Anime Club for the first time.

Tonight : Comic books, and Rifftrax Live!

Tomorrow : Meeting of the Dark Sun D&D group to reorganize for the resumption of play.

Friday : Preparations to run my game on Saturday!

Saturday : Run my game!

I think I'm going to take two weeks of vacation in October. I need to look at my list of nerd conventions and see which ones I might be able to hit up, then.

Cancel

Sci-fi game cancelled due to player illness. Only one more potential session before the D&D game it was subbing for picks back up. And I'm okay with that. I had been struggling to muster the time to properly prep for it and still maintain my own Saturday sessions.

So I spent the evening with Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3, and did a little data recovery work on a friend's old hard drive. And watched some Rifftrax shorts.

I am still working on a list of MST3K episodes for mini-marathons, which I plan to start sometime soonish.

Exhausted

Tossed and turned most of the night. Bleh. I am wiped out.

My new MST3K boxed set with all five Gamera episodes arrived yesterday, though. This makes me very happy. I watched the first one last night, in fact. I'd forgotten all the 'creepy devil kid' schtick they'd done for Kenny.

At work, we're doing some training on a new ticketing system, so my time's been a little scarce. Should be done now, thankfully. The guy doing the training seems to have really enjoyed Christopher Nolan's 'Inception' movie, because every time he talks about starting a ticket, instead of using the words 'start', 'create', or 'begin', he invariably says 'incept'. This usage is accurate, but pompous-sounding and kind of obnoxious the 6th or 7th time. Word variety is your friend.

My hideous bug-bite welts from the 4th are beginning to relent, under my planned assault that includes two kinds of anti-itch cream, and Benadryl before bedtime. The two that looked liked puffy port-wine stains on my leg have started to break up into a more mottled appearance, which is good.

My current theory on my neck pain is that I am clenching my teeth in my sleep, resulting in TMJD. (Temporo-Mandibular Joint Disorder) I am hoping it will pass like it did last time.

Lastly, I think I may try to do some MST3K mini-marathons with people I know locally. It's time I put my TV and my MST collection to good use. Now I need to think of some themes for the mini-marathons.

RiffTrax

It was an excellent show, but of the four I've seen, probably the weakest. But weak RiffTrax is still awesome. Mom enjoyed the show as well!

Tonight, I need to do my preparations for Trick or Treat tomorrow, and my preparations for my annual Halloween adventure in my roleplaying games. This year, the Golden Age campaign is my target for a little something spooky.

I really should decide on a Halloween costume some year. I love the holiday, I'm just lazy, cheap, and indecisive when it comes to Halloween costumes.

Going to go see RiffTrax Live tonight. Mom's in town, so I'm taking her along!

It's time to give up the ghost on Star Trek Online. I like the game. Mostly. But it's not interesting enough that I feel compelled to play often, which is a basic failure in an MMO. It has noble company in the failure bin - World of Warcraft didn't grab me either.

Time to look ahead for the week! Check comes on Friday, always nice to have money to pay bills. RiffTrax live is.. Thursday, I believe. Going to have to make time for that. Halloween and a gaming session are Saturday - I'll have to do some preparation for both. I've got a stuck software upgrade for work that I need to continue to work on this week. The garbage goes out tonight, along with my first official load of recyclables.

Saw that last night - excellent show as always. And they're doing a Halloween show with Vincent Price's House on Haunted Hill! Ran into [livejournal.com profile] sheliakbob and acquaintance there as well.

I have to say, though, my biggest laugh of the night was some of the stuff before they really started. See, the Rifftrax shows precede the main event with movie trivia, quotes, and suchlike - sort of like a normal movie does, except all the movie facts are hilariously fake. It was one of their 'Movie Mistakes' placards that got me - it read, simply :

"The Last Airbender"

Damn, that's cold.
candidgamera: (Default)
Stayed home from work yesterday. Tuesday afternoon, I seemed to be spiraling into some kind of cold or flu - aches, fatigue, and a general malaise. And a bit of a cough. Joined Wednesday morning by congestion and headache. The congestion vanished over the course of the day, though. So.. I dunno. Maybe just fatigue or some kind of depressive episode? Been kind of bummed since late last week about nothing in particular.

Of course, once I considered the possibility of it being some kind of depression, I watched some MST3K (and Pet Sematary, but that's not really relevant to my point) and then started back up my exercise routine, and this morning, I feel fine. So, eh.
candidgamera: (Default)
Awesome show. Could've used more Weird Al, but a fun time was had, nonetheless. I was extremely entertained by the callback to Prince of Space.
candidgamera: (magic)
RiffTrax Live returns! With special guest, Weird Al Yankovic! Holy crap! And it's going to be showing in a theater in Morgantown again! Woo!

I am all over that.
candidgamera: (Default)
Quite an enjoyable experience - I'd love to see them do more of those. Especially on an evening with no thunderstorm.

A bit more about Plan 9 and RiffTrax can be found on my Bloggity-blog.

I am pleased that Sci-Fi (or SyFy) has opted to order a second season of Warehouse 13. I am really enjoying the hell out of it.

You know.. I appreciate the fact that you want to exercise. A brisk morning walk before going into work is a perfectly good way to maintain your health. The only little problem I have with it is that you're walking in the street. When there's a perfectly good sidewalk three feet to the left of you.

Sigh.

Watched MST3K's Zombie Nightmare last night - well, really, I listened to it from an adjacent room. Don't have a good eyeline to the TV when I'm on the computer. Also sat down and watched Warehouse 13's pilot - I approve, so far.
