Exhausted

Took a half-day yesterday to go home early and get a little rest, rather than falling asleep on my keyboard and waking up with keyboard-face. Also managed to get a haircut later that evening.

I'm becoming more frustrated with the 4th Edition games I'm in. Well, that's not accurate - it's just the Dark Sun game. The GM seems abnormally focused on killing us, using questionable rules interpretations (that always favor the monsters) and egregiously slanted battles, coupled with a lack of proper rest periods.

Plus one of the players is getting on my nerves. Damaged social skills, plus a near-useless character. Who makes a claustrophobic character in Dungeons and Dragons? Every time we're underground, he freaks out.

We came upon an oasis in the game yesterday, and he immediately wants to throw the bodies of the enemies we killed into it - and seems genuinely disappointed when he's shouted down with a chorus of simultaneous "NO"s.

The water turns out to be tainted, and our shaman purifies it - unleashing the corrupt spirit living in the oasis. We beat it and it turns back into the human it once was, about to die, thanking us for releasing him from his nightmare. This is mostly In Character :

Barbarian Player : Can I kill him?
Me : He's dying already, why do you want to kill him?
Barbarian Player : I wanted to chop his head off!
Me : You murderous coward!
Barbarian Player : I'm not a coward, I charged right into battle..
Me : You're afraid of ceilings!
